Part of an electron transfer chain functioning in an early step of cytosolic Fe-S biogenesis. Electrons are transferred to the Fe-S cluster from NADPH via a FAD- and FMN-containing diflavin oxidoreductase. Has anti- apoptotic effects in the cell
